HEA Statement on Negotiations
HEA (Hillsborough Education Association) has released a statement detailing most recent updates on contract negotiations with the Board of Education.
Statement from the Hillsborough Township Board of Education Regarding the Status of Negotiations
The Hillsborough Board of Education and the Hillsborough Education Association were unable to reach a contract settlement after 5 months of direct negotiations and 2 sessions with a State-appointed mediator that combined to more than 14 hours of continued negotiations.

The Bedminster Farmers Market is an amazing family-friendly opportunity to build a greater sense of community for all residents to have healthy food options and learn the importance of maintaining land for agricultural uses. HHS Parking Application Closes August 23!
The Hillsborough High School Parking Pass Application closes on August 23rd! Seniors who want a chance to park their cars at the school will need to complete their application no later than August 23 at 3 pm.
Hillsborough Rotary Fair Opens August 13!
Mark your calendars for the annual Hillsborough Rotary Fair, running August 13 through August 17! The Rotary Fair is a major fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Hillsborough, the annual host of the event. All funds raised will go back into the community!
Discovering Raritan Event Promotes Local Businesses and Community
Discovering Raritan will be used to spotlight local Raritan businesses and promote strength within the community. The event, which will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., takes place along the Somerset Business District, between Thompson Street and Nevius Street.
Girl Scout Hosts Softball Expo as Part of Gold Award
Katie Rygiel, a girl scout, local Hillsborough High School student and varsity softball player, chose to do her Gold Award Project about softball education. Part of her project is the Softball Expo, an event sponsored by the Hillsborough Recreation Department, entitled Why Softball? The event, to be held on Saturday, August 10th, will be run by Rygiel with help from the Hillsborough Recreation Department, the Hillsborough High School Varsity Softball team and the Top Gun Fastpitch Organization. At the event, girls can participate in drills that teach different skills, but are also fun and enjoyable.
New Activity Participation Fee Program Announced for Hillsborough Public Schools
Hillsborough Township Board of Education announced on Wednesday August 6 that students at Hillsborough High School, Hillsborough Middle School and Auten Road Intermediate School will now undergo a new Activity Participation Fee Program. This new program has assigned costs to various activities that take place across the district.
HBA Holds 2nd Annual Restaurant Week
The Hillsborough Business Association will hold the second annual Hillsborough Restaurant week, Tuesday, August 20 through Sunday, August 25th. Participating Hillsborough restaurants will have the opportunity to showcase creative cuisine for local residents and foodies from all over.
“Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” Reflects on Filmmaking Past
Quentin Tarantino’s newest film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” came to theaters Friday, July 26 and impressed audiences and critics everywhere. A few highlights of the movie include a cast chock full of A-list actors, the first on-screen partnership between Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, and dialogue rich with clever one-liners. The movie has only been out for a week and has already made a whopping 45 million dollars, making it Tarantino’s biggest opening weekend yet.

Somerset County 4-H Fair Returns Again
Somerset County’s 4-H Association will be hosting its annual 4-H Fair from August 7 to August 9. The fair will be open each day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and will be located at North Branch Park at 355 Milltown Road in Bridgewater. The 4-H fair is a great opportunity for both adults and children to get more invested in their community, and have some wholesome family fun.

25 years after the release of the original, animated classic, Disney updated the story for a new generation as a computer-animated version. While many fans of the original are skeptical, the film is an altogether must-see for a family-friendly time. It brings a familiar crowd back to the theaters and allows them to delve into their childhood selves.

Hillsborough Hosts Annual Family Camp Out
Hillsborough's annual Fishing Derby and Camp Out will be held on Friday, August 2 at Ann Van Middlesworth Park. This year’s Family Camp Out will include fishing, games, a barrel fire and a movie under the stars.
Hillsborough Schools Appoints New Director of Buildings
Hillsborough Township Public Schools is pleased to announce the selection of Anthony DeLuca as the new Director of Buildings and Grounds for the school district. DeLuca was unanimously approved by the Hillsborough Board of Education at the July 22 meeting and will begin his new position with the district on July 23, 2019.
Rutgers Business School Hosts Weeklong Camp
Rutgers Business School (RBS) spearheaded a week-long intensive camp led by Ron Richter, a professor at RBS for high school students interested in a future in the business world. Whether it be accounting, financing, or marketing, multiple opportunities were presented to students to help them get started in the field.

Experience family fun, delicious food, upbeat music and prime photo opportunities at the Quick Check Balloon Festival in Readington, NJ! The hot air balloon festival will run from Friday July 26 to Sunday July 28.
New Transportation Cuts for Hillsborough Public Schools
Due to transportation cuts, middle school students living 2 miles or less from Hillsborough Middle School and high school students living 2.5 miles or less from Hillsborough High School will not be provided courtesy busing for the next school year. With courtesy busing being previously provided to all residential students, this transportation update brings new alterations to students’ morning schedules, as many will now have to find rides or walk to school.
Hillsborough Schools Appoints New Supervisor of Visual / Performing Arts and Related Areas
Christopher Ireland has been selected as the new Supervisor of Visual/Performing Arts and Related Areas for the school district. Ireland was approved by the Hillsborough Board of Education at the July 22 meeting and will begin his new position with the district in September
