Hillsborough: The Birthplace of a Revolution
Three centuries ago, many presidential icons and patriotic leaders traversed our beloved Hillsborough Township. In fact, this just might be the birthplace of American liberty. In honor of President’s Day, let’s explore the rich history of our town.
Benefits of All Day Kindergarten for Hillsborough New Jersey
At the February 11, 2019, Hillsborough Board of Education meeting, Dr. Jorden Schiff’s Superintendent Report included a presentation by several early education teachers and administrators. The presenters discussed the changes that have occurred over the last 20 years in regards to what is expected of our youngest learners as well as the social and academic benefits a full-day kindergarten program would provide to incoming Hillsborough students.

Duke Farms' Sugar Maple Festival
On Saturday, February 9th, Duke Farms held their annual Sugar Maple Festival. This event welcomed people of all ages, including first-timers and returning Duke guests. Activities engaged visitors in nature hikes and the maple tapping process.
Hillsborough School Referendum Voter Registration
Hillsborough residents who are not currently registered to vote are reminded that the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming March 12, 2019, school referendum is February 19, 2019. Residents will be asked to vote on Hillsborough Township Public Schools’ plan to invest in the future of the district by implementing a full-day kindergarten program as well as assisting the Board in laying out a plan for long-term financial stability.
Walk With A Doc
Hosted by Medicor Cardiology, a cardiology group in the Hillsborough/Bridgewater community for over forty years, Walk with a Doc is a program created to promote lifelong cardiac health. Cardiologists Dr. Steve Georgeson and Dr. Parag Patel walk alongside community members every month to encourage heart-healthy activities.
Cheers to Hockey
I am 45 years old and was raised in Los Angeles, California. Los Angeles wasn't much of a hockey town until the Great One, #99 Wayne Gretzky arrived. Even then, most people only watched hockey when the Los Angeles Kings made the playoffs. I went to my first Hockey game just 10 miles South of Hillsborough down 206, a little gem known as the Hobey Baker Arena where the Princeton University Hockey team plays.
Paws For Reading
Paws for Reading is a program in which children read to SAVE Animal Shelter’s residing cats and dogs to help socialize the animals and to get them accustomed to human voices.
Auten Road School Holds Annual Soup-er Bowl Canned Food Collection
Two fifth grade teams at Auten Road Intermediate School, Teams 5J and 5K, held their fifth annual Soup-er Bowl Canned Food Drive collection to benefit the Hillsborough Township Food Pantry.
Hillsborough High School Battle of the Bands 2019
Last weekend, Hillsborough High School hosted two events that captured the essence of performing arts in the community. On Friday, February 1st, the HHS Debate Team organized the school’s annual Battle of the Bands. Five bands performed, four led by HHS students, and one comprising of HHS Faculty. There was a mix of original material, as well as classics by Blink 182, Nirvana, and Queen.

Free Cardiac Screening For Teen Athletes
On Saturday, February 2nd, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset is offering a free cardiac screening for teen athletes. Sudden Cardiac Arrest describes electrical problems in the heart that cause a dangerously irregular heart rhythm, which prevents blood flow throughout the body. Although it is rare, young athletes are more than twice as likely to experience SCA as compared to non-athletes.

Jumpstart Dance Exposition @ Montgomery High School
The Jumpstart Club helps underprivileged high school students by fundraising throughout the year to contribute towards college scholarships for those who are in need.

Montgomery High School is hosting the third annual Cougar Invitational this Sunday, January 6th. Come support the newly established Hillsborough High School Dance Team as they perform at their very first competition!

On Saturday, December 15th from 11am to 4pm businesses through Bernardsville NJ will be providing cookies to shoppers for the Cookie Crawl! A $10 Cookie Crawl ticket will give you a map of participating businesses and a cookie box to collect all the cookies.

Every Saturday throughout December, the Princeton Tour Company will be offering Holiday Trolley Tours and Santa Tours! While on the Trolley Tour you will drive down the decorated streets of Princeton and take in the holiday spirit of the town.
