Walk With A Doc

Hosted by Medicor Cardiology, a cardiology group in the Hillsborough/Bridgewater community for over forty years, Walk with a Doc is a program created to promote lifelong cardiac health. Cardiologists Dr. Steve Georgeson and Dr. Parag Patel walk alongside community members every month to encourage heart-healthy activities. An avid believer in lifestyle medicine, Dr. Patel advocates for “preventative therapies for patients…exercise, a nutrition plan, weight control, smoking cessation, and a supportive family/friend network.” For many, Walk with a Doc can be the first step towards maintaining long term cardiac health.

To conclude each walking session, the doctors briefly discuss a new topic related to improving heart health and lifestyle decisions. Last month, for example, the doctors discussed how one’s social community affects heart health. Many adults do not speak to a cardiologist between yearly checkups, so take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about preventing heart disease, the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. Although family history is a risk factor, heart disease can be prevented by active awareness and care. Walk with a Doc takes place on one Saturday each month from 8:30-9:30 am, indoors at the Bridgewater Commons mall. In the warmer months, the group will walk at Duke Island Park. Walk with a Doc is open to anyone in the community! For further information, please refer to the flyer.
