Montgomery High School FBLA Hosts A Successful Business Festival

With over 150 attendees from eight different schools, the Montgomery Business Festival II was a massive success! Hosted by the Montgomery Future Business Leaders of America, the day was full of excitement and all things business.

After check-in and breakfast, MBF started with the keynote speak, Ramandeep Sidhu, who is a strategy and product leader for Xfinity Home. He spoke about his career and current position, imparting both wisdom and inspiration to the students in the audience.

"The keynote speaker taught me how I could apply my experiences as a high schooler in the real world,”  said Sanjna Chokshi, a junior at Montgomery High School. “The event came together really nicely and was able to provide students with the opportunity to pursue their passions in the business field.” Chokshi’s response was like many of the responses received. The event started in light of the lack of business education in schools and the frenzy business spirit in many students today.

After the keynote and introduction, the event broke out into two rounds of workshops by inspiring business leaders in and around the area. The Law of Business by Veera Rastogi, Entrepreneurship by Shyam Kapoor, and four others workshops provided endless opportunities for students to learn new skills and network with extraordinary people.

Proceeding the workshops, lunch was served and networking time began. Students from all different schools talked and laughed together. “It was truly heartwarming. I met so many new people there and will continue our friendship after the event,” Praneeth Yaduguru exclaimed.

Following lunch, there was a pitch contest called Cougar Tank. Students had two minutes to pitch their entrepreneurial ventures. After, the fours judges, Barry Rabner, Mary McLoughlin, Shyam Kapoor, and Damian Pappa, all decided the top three who won cool prices such as GoPros and drones.

To end the day off, there was a closing ceremony and prizes.

“MBF is a keystone event of the ecosystem that MHS FBLA is developing. With student representation from across NJ, we are thrilled to support aspiring business leaders from around the state and are looking forward to expanding our reach!” said Ben Matthew, a senior at Montgomery High School and a organizer of the event.
