MHS Students Put Together First Montgomery Business Festival

The inaugural Montgomery Business Festival (MBF) was hosted by the Montgomery High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) on Saturday, May 18. Students explored their interest in business through various opportunities including workshops, networking, and a pitch contest.

EXPRESEO Digital Marketing, creator of the media website heyBoro, spearheaded the marketing technology workshops that MBF participants attended. The Hillsborough-based company explained the necessary components to building an optimal website, as well as topics relating to search engine optimization and social media marketing.

EXPRESEO interns helped business owners Shailen and Bhargavi Lodhia present real customers’ data to the festival-goers, helping spark an interest in students of the complex and exciting world of digital marketing.

The opening keynote speaker and workshops were followed by lunch from Princeton’s The Tiger’s Tale and the pitch contest resembling the show “Shark Tank.” Business leaders judged the five different prototypes presented to them. Rohan Jayanthi won first place for his Bully Performance Index. Jayanthi won a full scholarship to a business camp this summer.

“Instead of CPI and those types of measurements, Rohan’s idea would enable students to report bullying and give people scores to measure bullying,” said Emily Ren, FBLA Secretary.

Ren continued that the Montgomery Business Festival was an invaluable opportunity for students to “expand their entrepreneurial ventures” and interact with mentors in their intended field of study. The Montgomery branch of Future Business Leaders of America worked tirelessly to bring this incredible event to life. Be sure to register when the Montgomery Business Festival returns next year with more promising opportunities.
