Family Friendly Beaches Of New Jersey

 

OCEAN CITY, NJ

Ocean City is considered one of the best family friendly beaches in New Jersey because the atmosphere is safe and the boardwalk offers rides, games and plenty of food spots. Ocean City, NJ beaches are known to serve as “America’s Greatest Family Resort”. What truly makes this beach kid friendly is the environment. Smoking and vaping on beaches is against the law, alcohol is prohibited, feeding seagulls and wildlife is prohibited and ball playing that is deemed unsafe to the public is not allowed. These rules provide a safe atmosphere for families with children. Ocean City has lifeguards on staff from Memorial Day weekend all the way until mid-September which is very important to parents as it allows them to feel safer while their children swim in the ocean. In addition, beach tags are required for kids 12 and up in effect through early June and through Labor Day.


WILDWOOD CREST, NJ

Wildwood Crest, NJ beaches are a very popular destination spot for families. What makes Wildwood Crest beaches so kid friendly is the free beaches and the 2 mile boardwalk. There are three sections of beaches, one including Wildwood Crest which tends to be the most family friendly spot that include some sections with private beaches. On the boardwalk, Morey’s Piers offers 3 piers of rides, 2 water parks and you can ride the famous tram car which runs the length of the boardwalk. There are places to rent bikes, play miniature golf, go fishing and crabbing, or you just relax and take in the sunset with an ice cream sundae. Some favorite food spots in the Wildwoods include; Duffers, The Jellyfish Cafe, Little Italy, Coastal Blue Oceanside Bar & Grill and Britton’s Gourmet Bakery. 


 LONG BRANCH (& 7 PRESIDENTS BEACH), NJ

If you are looking for a day trip and not a true vacationing spot then Long Branch Beaches (& Seven Presidents) are a great spot, even for kids and family trips! The 7 Presidents Beach offers plenty of parking, a pavilion with food, snacks and drinks as well  2 restroom locations nearby. The beach is a short walking distance from the parking lot and the fee includes parking costs and beach badges. In addition, when you walk onto this beach it displays the temperature of the water and water conditions. There are plenty of lifeguards who are constantly monitoring the water. There are several places to eat and get refreshments between 7 Presidents and Pier Village which is nearby. 


SPRING LAKE, NJ

Spring Lake is a great beach for day trips whether it’s with your family or just hanging out with friends. Spring lake offers a quiet beach experience with a boardwalk and a pavilion nearby with bathrooms and a snack stand. You can have a great time at Spring Lake with its safe environment and carefully protected atmosphere. Food and Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the beach which allows the beach to give off a more family friendly vibe instead of an adult atmosphere. Smoking is not permitted on the beach or boardwalk. Also, Hoffman’s Ice Cream, one of the best ice cream shoppes in New Jersey is just a short drive from the beach. 


LONG BEACH ISLAND (LBI), NJ

Long Beach Island is a great kid friendly beach spot which offers many home rentals on the beach. LBI is known for a long stretch of white sand beaches as well as the family oriented Fantasy Island Amusement Parks. Also, nearby is Thundering Surf Water Park and Adventure Golf. LBI is a popular shopping spot with plenty of places to eat such as Schooner’s Wharf, The Chicken or the Egg and Uncle Will’s Pancake House in Beach Haven. Although it is a great beach spot for families, there are also lots of places for sightseeing like the Barnegat Lighthouse and Museum on NJ Maritime.


BRADLEY BEACH, NJ

Bradley beach is known to be a kid friendly beach because of the size of the beach and the location. This beach is located in between Avon-by-the sea and Ocean Grove. There are plenty of family restaurants near Bradley Beach and the food is delicious. Some of them include: The buttered Biscuit, Avon Pavilion, Vic’s Italian Restaurant and an ice cream spot perfect for kids called Day’s Ice Cream. Bradley Beach also has a putt putt course and a gated playground that is located right off the beach. You can even spend your time under the gazebo to stay cool. Kids 12 and under are free and there is some free parking available as well. Alcohol is prohibited and there are plenty of shops nearby. This is a great family friendly beach that offers a safe clean environment.
